The technology
AqFresh™ is a patented molecule capture & release technology with applications including odour scavenging and VOC capture.
It is made of barrel-shaped molecules, called cucurbiturils. Cucurbiturils have a unique symmetrical structure, with a hollow, hydrophobic cavity and polar portals.

Unwanted molecules
AqFresh™ is proven to capture a wide range of molecules including:
- Acids
- Aldehydes (Formaldehyde, Acetaldehyde, Acrolein and others)
- Amines (including Ammonia)
- BTEX
- Complex malodours
- Ketones and Alcohols (MEK, Ethanol and others)
- SO2 and NO2
- Thiols and Sulphides

Cucurbiturils have been screened for their interactions with a range of small molecules. Captured molecules can be displaced on demand by applying either increasing temperature or in the presence of a competitive molecule. Small molecules can include fragrances and insect repellents.
